HCL Domino License Analysis Utility and its Challenges
In June of 2023 HCL announced their Domino License Analysis Utility (DLAU) to help organizations accurately track their user based licensing requirements. The details and download of the utility can be found at the GitHub link below.
However, many organizations have found DLAU can output license requirements that are far beyond what they have been licensing and/or higher than required for their usage of Domino. For instance, a large number of external users could show as requiring a full Complete Collaboration for Business (CCB) Edition user subscription. Or it could be counting too high of a number of internal or external users.
When this occurs, organizations have many things they can do to better understand the DLAU output and manage their Domino environment. This can include removing users, putting users in a deny access group, changing access levels for users, templates and databases, and depending on the scope of these changes, testing and remediation resulting in a verified and optimized license count and cost.
If your DLAU output is out of alignment with your current licensing and/or required Domino users, Mercury can help. We’ve helped many clients manage their environment to eliminate or greatly reduce DLAU surprise licensing cost and get a proper licensing footprint going forward.
